Conservation of AlAqaba Church, Jordan

The church was first discovered during the excavation campaign in 1988, and dates back to the third century. The historical site faced numerous challenges, including insect attacks, deep undercuts, structural instability, and severe crack propagation. L'Institut Français du Proche-Orient (IFPO) recognized AK Habitat's expertise, awarding us consultation services and supervision works on the

  • Implementation of the conservation plan.

  • Overseeing soil sourcing

  • Identifying suitable soil for construction

  • Estimating Quantities

  • Preparing time schedules

  • Coordinating the production of adobe blocks with a focus on quality control to successfully carry out the repair and consolidation works.

As part of our commitment to knowledge transfer, AK Habitat conducted training sessions on earthen architecture for the Department of Antiquities, empowering them to carry out necessary maintenance works in the future.
